Set a website's expiry date and price
A hosting can carry an expiry date, an owner address and a price. The date drives warnings to the owner, then suspension, then deletion. The price drives a billing reminder to you. Hyperion never charges anyone. Without a date the site never suspends itself.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Expiration needs the Edit hosting config permission. Price needs the Manage hosting profiles permission.
- Outgoing mail works, so warnings reach the owner. See Set up the outgoing mail relay.
Set the expiry
Section titled “Set the expiry”- Open Hostings in the sidebar, click the site, and open Settings & limits. Find Expiration. The pill reads
no expiryorexpires <date>. - In Renews on, pick the date. It is a UTC date. A date in the future is used exactly as typed. A date in the past is taken as the day the customer came to you: the site expires on the next occurrence of that day and month, and the card shows with us since with the date you typed. Empty means never.
- In Grace period, enter the days between suspension and deletion, 1 to 365. The default is 30.
- In Owner email, enter who gets the warnings. Without an address no warning is sent, and the site is suspended without notice. A blank address does not stop the suspension.
- In Warning offsets, enter days before expiry, comma-separated. The default is
30,7,1. - Click Save expiry.
A profile sets the grace period and the warning offsets when you apply it. It does not change the date. The wording of the warning is under Settings, Customer letters. See Change customer letters and the email logo.
To stop all of this, click Clear expiry. The queued warnings, suspension and deletion are cancelled. The owner address stays.
Set the price
Section titled “Set the price”- On the same tab, find Price.
- Enter Amount (empty means no price), Currency as an ISO 4217 code such as
EUR, and Billed: Yearly, Quarterly or Monthly. - Tick Keep this price if the next profile apply must not put the profile’s price back.
- Click Save price.
Saving the same interval keeps the next billing date. A different interval starts the billing clock again from the day you save. Hyperion notifies you when a billing date comes within 3 days. The price of a care plan is set on the plan. See Put a site on a care plan.
Check that it worked
Section titled “Check that it worked”The page shows “Expiry updated.” and the pill reads expires <date>. The Price card shows the amount, and “Next billing” with its date.
If it fails
Section titled “If it fails”- A site was suspended unexpectedly: check Expiration for a date that has passed. To bring it back, save a later date or click Clear expiry, then click Resume. See Suspend, resume or delete a website.
- The owner received nothing: open the site’s Emails tab and look for the warning. See Find out whether an email was delivered.
